NoorAyyaam is committed to protecting your privacy. This site is designed to be as privacy-friendly as possible. We do not use advertising tracking or cookies. We process limited technical data to deliver and secure the site, anonymous analytics data, and the information you submit through our forms.

NoorAyyaam is a trading name of Wajid Bashir, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for this website.

NoorAyyaam does not use cookies of any kind. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no third-party cookies. Your browser will not receive any cookies from this site.

NoorAyyaam uses Umami, a privacy-friendly, open-source analytics tool that we self-host on our own servers. Umami collects only anonymous, aggregated data such as page views, referral sources, and device type. It does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track individual visitors. There is no way for us to identify you. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party tracking service.

NoorAyyaam uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to save a small amount of data on your device. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server. It includes:

• Your theme preference (dark/light mode)
• Your date adjustment setting (moon sighting offset)
• Your favourited events (if you use the favourites feature)
• Kids Ramadan Tracker progress (fasted/prayed/Quran checkboxes)
• Kids Daily Challenge streak

You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or site data for noorayyaam.com.

If you use the “Submit an Event”, “Newsletter” or error-report form, the information you provide is sent by our own form handler on EU web hosting to our email inbox. It is not stored in the website or a website database. It is retained in the receiving email system for the period described below. No third-party form service is used. To protect the forms from abuse, we temporarily store a hash of the submitting IP address and submission times, outside the public website, for up to 10 minutes. This record is not used for marketing.

We use the following third-party service providers (sub-processors) to operate NoorAyyaam. Each handles personal data only as necessary to provide their service.

Newsletter-interest requests are based on your consent. We do not currently operate a newsletter mailing list through this form; to stop further contact, email privacy@noorayyaam.com. Event submissions are handled on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering and publishing community events. Hosting, fonts and anonymous analytics are based on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

We keep newsletter-interest emails until you ask us to remove them or until we contact you when the newsletter launches, and event and error-report emails for up to 12 months unless a matter is still open, or longer only where the law requires it.

You may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and, where applicable, portability by emailing privacy@noorayyaam.com. We respond within one month.

NoorAyyaam may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any external site you visit.

The Kids Corner section of NoorAyyaam is designed for children. It does not collect any personal data. All progress tracking (quiz scores, daily challenge streaks, Ramadan tracker) is stored locally on the device and is never transmitted to any server.

If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update this page. Given our commitment to not collecting data, significant changes are unlikely.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please email privacy@noorayyaam.com. We acknowledge receipt within 30 days, take appropriate steps to investigate without undue delay, keep you informed, and tell you the outcome without undue delay. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113), but we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
