Biography
Hadrat Haji Muhammad Mushtaq Qadri Attari (may Allah have mercy upon him) was born in 1969 in Sarhad, Waziristan, Pakistan, and grew up in Moradabad, India. His father was Maulana Ikhlaaq Ahmed. In 1991, he married, with his nikah conducted by Hadrat Ameer-e-Ahle Sunnat Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri (may his glory be everlasting). He had four children: Obaid Raza Attari, Abdul Mustafa Attari, Faizan Attari, and Ashfaq Attari.
A devoted follower and close companion of Hadrat Ameer-e-Ahle Sunnat Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri (may his glory be everlasting), he took spiritual allegiance (bay'ah) at his blessed hands in 1986. In 1997, he was appointed Imam of Masjid Kanzul Eemaan, and in 2000 he was appointed Nigran-e-Shura (Council Leader) of Dawat-e-Islami. Through his tireless dedication and selfless service to the cause of Islam, he became widely known as "Attar Ka Pyara" (Beloved of Attar).
He was a gifted Na'at Khwan who never accepted payment for reciting Na'at. Recording companies offered large sums of money, but he refused every time. He never demanded transport arrangements nor asked for travel expenses. Any income from his recordings was directed entirely toward Dawat-e-Islami projects and the service of the Ummah.
Toward the end of his life, he suffered from throat and chest cancer and eventually lost the ability to speak. His spiritual guide, Hadrat Ameer-e-Ahle Sunnat (may his glory be everlasting), who was in the UAE at the time, phoned him and requested that he recite the Kalimah, which by the grace of Allah he was able to do. He departed from this temporary world on 29 Sha'ban 1423 AH (5 November 2002) in Karachi.
Upon hearing of his passing, Hadrat Ameer-e-Ahle Sunnat (may his glory be everlasting) returned to Karachi and led the Janazah prayer. Approximately 200,000 people attended the funeral at Nishtar Park, Karachi. He was laid to rest in Sehra-e-Madinah, Karachi, where attendees recited Durood Shareef and famous Na'ats, including the celebrated work of Hadrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi (may Allah have mercy upon him), "Kaabay Ke Badrudduja Tum Pe Karoron Durood." Across the world, thousands of Muslims prayed for him through Qur'an recitation, Durood Shareef, and Tasbeeh. May Allah Almighty grant him a high station in Jannah.
